We had an interesting scenario this morning, VDSL internet was down (got sync but no PPPoE), as was Vodafone cellphone and Telecom cellphone (no signal for either).

I live rural(ish) so I'm guessing the cell towers for Vodafone and Telecom are hooked into the fixed line network somewhere and that it was down.

Is there a website that shows such outages ?

You can check the individual telcos websites. Both have a link somewhere on their front page so easy to find.

Google search ' Vodafone NZ status page ' but if everything is offline how are you going to check?

:-)  In this case I'd check at work .. but just find it concerning that all services in my area (Mangawhai) go through a single point of failure, whats a person to do if there is a fire ? Use a blanket and do smoke signals ? :-)

It's not the first time it's happened, last time I chalked it up to coincidence.

Looks like maybe microwave backhaul is no longer used for the Vodafone Mangawhai cell site?
