Apparently in June. Probably some good deals to be had.
Mod can move to bargains thread if more appropriate.

johnr: This is not good news my sister is manager out in the henderson store :(
sbiddle: They're a huge brand in Australia, and their product range and pricing here is great. It's a shame the model hasn't worked for them.
trig42: I read this news earlier. A bit sad.
I like FCO stores, well stocked (maybe that's the issue - a lot of cash tied up there) and pretty good pricing.
Hopefully there is a nice big sale, I'm in the market for some fishing gear.
Bugger, just realized, I only just paid to be in Club FCO. D'oh.
If one of the other big retailers take them over, I wonder who - Torpedo7 has a couple of stores around, but IMO they aren't a patch on FCO. Rebel could be another contender.

sbiddle: Retail has become a difficult market with Kathmandu having completely destroyed it with their business model which was then adopted by Briscoes and now many other retailers.
Many people won't buy things unless they're marked as 50% off and are too dumb to realise your typical Lathmandu or Briscoes product is really at it's RRP when it is at 50% off. This has caused massive implications across the rest of the retail market, with players such as FCO in NZ being caught up in this. Good prices all the time aren't enough to drive customers, they want to feel like they're getting a bargain, even if they're not.
mattwnz: Isn't it owned by Supercheap? I am not that surprised because I never thought it offered particularly good deals or pricing for the nz market. it was always empty when I went ink. They are competing with kathmandu, and the warehouse, which are always having sales. Some of their fishing stuff was very expensive. Hopefully there will be some good closing deals, although they may just send the stock back to OZ. It is unusual for an OZ company to fail in NZ.
