If you spot a USB flash drive cemented into a wall or kerb, you may have stumbled across a Dead Drop, part of a global art project borrowing tricks from the world of espionage

"In February, a German journalist discovered plans for a bomb uploaded to one dead drop in Cologne, along with guides to producing crystal meth, and recipes for various deadly poisons."

Yes, it sounds like a brilliant idea. Never mind the potential for malware or viruses...!

There is a reasonably good case for disabling USB and never using it because it's a broken insecure technology. Enjoy your firmware level malware..

DravidDavid: This is such a stupid idea.

But fun.

Id do it just to see what crap people are putting on the drives :)

But would be via a laptop with nothing on it except the OS - no personal files etc.

Fun, yes.  Until something bad happens.  The only one in New Zealand even remotely close to me is Hamilton.  Does someone want to go check it out and report back?

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.
