I have 3 orders all done at the same time for the same item coming to me by 3 different methods. All ordered on wednesday.

Will be interesting to see what order they arrive in and at what cost. The 2 going to portland are due to arrive by 8pm friday their time. So its just a case of watching the emails now.

I ordered $350 (including delivery) of books off Amazon a couple of weeks back on a Friday - I was leafing through one of them 7am the next Tuesday morning.

I order a fair bit from various online stores / locations and I have learnt that if it can be delivered direct from Amazon, their service will always thrash the other options in both price and speed. If Amazon can't deliver (Electronics etc) then Youshop is the best of the rest. Youshop is very slow and pretty poor value though. Will be interested to see what happens with your orders though - always keen to find better methods for delivery.

As a side note, those same books purchased locally in New Zealand would've cost $500 - $750. I see there are rumblings about GST on overseas purchases under $X - that sounds extremely expensive to enforce and also wouldn't have changed where I purchased the books from.

If it's breakable and it's sold by Amazon itself ship it direct. They are amazingly good at warranty and returns. Not third party who have their own rules

Youshop emailed that it was recieved at 3:33 pm NZ time today, amazon shows it was delivered at Friday, March 20, 2015 1:19 PM - no idea what timezone.

Shipito were faster at 7:35 AM today NZ time, shows as delivered by amazon tracking at Friday, March 20, 2015 9:31 AM

looks like shipito were slightly faster on that one. By 4 hours or so. No biggie, no multi day delays from NZ post on that.

Now lets pay for them.

Youshop shows the box as

Parcel weight 2.7kg
Parcel dimensions 37cm x 20cm x 19cm
Volumetric weight 2.81kg

Shipito show

WEIGHT : 5.90 lbs. (Google says 2.67619 kg)
DIMENSIONS (L x W x H) : 14.80 x 8.00 x 7.40 (37.592 x 20.32 x 18.796 from Google)

So I would say the same box, same weight as expected for the same stuff.

NZ post will deliver to my PO Box, so that order is going there,

NZ post, $47.00 with a $ 6 charge for additional cover. I didnt have to fill in any details about the order, they had it already probably from the invoice.

DHL only to my house, so will have that come to the house and hope they remember the authority to leave this time.

Have to pay $2 to get the package opened and a photo to get insurance, but otherwise there is no additional charge for it. DHL to NZ is the cheapest, and it is $53.23 USD, so significantly more than NZ post.

Here is the full list of options that shipito provided. Click to see full size

Remember that I have had to pay a deposit into my shipito, which is enough to cover this price, but I am paying in advance to them, rather than as I ship things like with NZ post.

So they are both paid for now, after warehouse closed on friday their time so will see how it goes with delivery time.

edit:

55.23 US Dollar equals 73.00 New Zealand Dollar
50% more expensive pretty much. So better be a hell of a lot faster.

Edit 2:

Amazon charged $27.89US for freight to NZ. Google says $36.86 NZ, so the cheapest of the lot. But as we know insanely slow to get here. Also listing 2 shipments for it, which will be interesting to see what actually turns up.

Youshop emailed at 2:33 today (sunday) to say that the parcel is on its way. Seems great that they are still working on Saturday their time.

When's your estimated arrival for the Youshop order? I had a router shipped with them other day $50.50 NZD (free compensation cover), seemed a little pricey (no repacking option for box either).

April 2nd, so ages away. Amazon themselves say april 7 for the drives coming from them so if nzpost are on time they are already winning.

My order was on Thursday and my estimated date is 31 March so they must be doing daily shipments. Whereas I've placed ordered on Amazon over a week apart but turn up at the same time (one item ended up being about a weeks shipping and the other closer to three). I guess you get what you pay for though like most things.

DHL card left while I was out getting lunch. That's always the way. Will get them to redeliver tomorrow. Thought I had done the authority to leave with them after the hassles last time, and the hassle the time before that.

Seems DHL are as bad as courierpost at forgetting auth to leave if you dont use them for a while.
