Geektastic: The craziness never stops...!
kiwitrc: Geez lucky I read this, I woke up this morning and thought Happy Birthday Jesus for Easter, and then decided I would have a few beers and drive over the Rimutakas, in a careless manner, on the right hand side of the road faster than is safe, but now, I am conflicted.
xpd: Im not driving anywhere. Probably not even down the road for food. Filling the fridge tonight with BBQ goods and topping up the booze supplies and thats me for the weekend ;)
DaveB: Here's why I am not homesick ............ a headline from one of the UK Dailies
"Easter Travel Chaos as 16 Million Cars set to plough through the rain". Many Kiwis do not know how well off we are over here. Regardless, I tend to stay off the roads at holiday times .......... too many people getting frustrated with the 80 - 90 kph brigade.

KiwiNZ: the problem with Easter driving is there is the same volumes of traffic as Christmas but it is condensed into a short time frame and with everyone rushing to their destinations to try and maximise their stay then leaving at the last minute to get back, the roads are dangerous and full of crazy people driving crazy.

Growing up, we never went away at Easter so for me, it is never a time when I 'expect' to be going anywhere in any case. My father was self-employed and did not observe bank holidays or even weekends if he had work to do, so it just never arose.
