If you purchased a camera with the following description would you expect it to at least have a battery charger ?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Pink fuji film camera
No leads
Gos well
2gb memory card
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

To me "No leads" = usb/av cables

Even if I managed to source a USB cable, it doesnt even support charging, so a charger was always going to be required. Seems like a pretty critical part to not specifically mention.

Was still an OK deal but the seller didn't like neutral feedback then accuses me of not reading the auction before buying.

I would rely on photos on the auction in this case...  If there is not a charger in the photos or description then assume its not coming with one and perhaps ask to confirm before bidding...
At the least thou I would assume it just takes a standard USB cable or another charger might be easy to source???

I tend to avoid (the whole of trademe!) and auctions like this because they always end up being dodgy deals...

Doing your best is much more important than being the best.

Possibly depends on the battery. Does it take normal AA or AAA batteries? If it is using a special battery that needs a special charger, and they say it goes, how can it go without a  charger? It is probably something you should have asked them about prior to purhcase. I pressume it had photos, so everything that it included should have been shown. You may need to chalk it down to not checking it out more.

Sorry, but caveat emptor.

If you're buying something that you really care about, ask questions on the auction as to exactly what model it is, what's included, and what isn't.
(I'd been bitten a few times before I made up this rule).

Similarly, if you buy a cheap USB cable, expect it to be nasty. If you want it for something important, slash out to buy one covered by the CGA, warranties, etc.

If it's not shown in the photos, and says no leads, I wouldn't expect it to come with a charger (or anything not shown in the photo).

If the auction description is lacking detail, use the Q&A to establish exactly what you are bidding on, rather than making assumptions.

Uses a propriety lithium battery block, so needs a specific charger.

Managed to source for $10 more so no bigge.

I think a bit of assumption should be allowed for. ie if I was selling a car on Trademe and said it run good but came with no exhaust system, when in fact everything including exhaust manifold was also gone...rendering the car un drive-able and requiring a bit more than simply buying a new exhaust system.

Will definitely ask questions in future.

Would also make me think it is highly likely to be stolen.

You know the saying about assumptions right? Well it's doubly true when buying on the likes of TradeMe. IMO the blue feedback is a bit harsh.

Use a file recovery program on the card, could be interesting. My money on stolen as well.

Edit: Actually looking at the vast array of crap the seller is selling, I would say they do the garage sale thing and then sell on TM. So they may have not stolen it themselves.

Geekzone has spoken.

Feedback updated to smiley, with moderate note about no charger being provided.
