I don't know alot about couriers, never boolked them before so I don;t know how it works.

Any recommendations to send my iPhone cheaply and reliably and speedily somewhere?

Go to a nzpost shop and find a track and trace envelope the right size and fill it out, put your suitably wrapped/protected phone in it, take it to the counter and pay for the postage.
If you have a bit of bubble wrap or corrugated cardboard to protect your phone sellotape it tightly around the phone before you leave home.
Once you get home log on to the nzpost website and track your parcel.

They are all much the same when delivering across town to businesses.

Just pack it well enough that you could have you parcel in a sack with others and push it off a table and no dammage would happen. A friend who sold on trademe had people return things just sticking the phone into a bubble trackpac and then get all suprised when it turned up broken or damaged and he wouldnt refund them.

Agree; package it like a team is going to play soccer with it.  Tight fitting corrugated cardboard, then a few layers of bubblewrap inside a sturdy box should provide fairly good protection.

All couriers are as bad as the next one. Pad your phone up (Bubble wrap, corrugated cardboard), chuck it in a box and surround it by newspaper. Leave a crumple zone because it'll be thrown, crushed and probably stood on at some point. They could literally not care less about what's inside the parcel (unless it's going to damage their own stuff, like explosives or liquids).

Interesting I rarely if ever havecvissues with couriers with the exception of Jets or Flyways. The likes of CourierPost or NZ couriers are very good. Example we would have received at least 15 consignments this week already with no issues. The packaginsc is barely marked.

Possibly luck of the draw? I've been doing the returns for a small online shop I work for part time for the last 6 months and the amount of stuff we get in our private bag that's been caved in, smashed and even stood on is just ridiculous. A lot of the time we don't even bother doing disputes because CourierPost blames it on inadequate packing which is entirely up to their interpretation. Castle Parcels seems to be about the same too.

I admit they do a good job when it goes smoothly, CourierPost is very fast and reliable most of the time. But I really wouldn't want to ship anything with them of value.
