No.. You don't go 4x4 with a highlander...

You can probably have some fun at the beach with correct tyre - that's about it.

It is more AWD not 4WD, from memory it does not have Hi Lo ratio or locking differentials. It is essentially a high riding Camry.

Wouldn't that be a soft roader?

Yes, AWD rather than 4WD..

Highlanders don't have a lot of torque, ground clearance, diff locks, low ratio transfer case.. did I mention no ground clearance?..

As Nakedmolerat said, they'd be good on a hard sand beach..

Edit: and that would be a fun place to take it!

Hmm.. I think you can drive on most Auckland West Coast beaches. Someone from the Auckland area would know more than me..

I visited friends recently who farm near Waiuku and we drove along..Karioitahi? beach to fish. There was an easy access ramp, sand was hard, I don't think we needed 4WD.

Just remember to wash under your new car afterwards!  Even driving slowly over a garden sprinkler will help get the corrosive salt off..

all the streets are your playground !

just drive where ever you want, like all the other suv owners.

kerbs and small cars don't matter.
