I have seen this a couple of times on the news now and would really like to know what the full story is. A lot of people are pissed that she has been doing this. My personal opinion is I don't care as long as she has been doing a good job then so be it.

I would say though that the NAACP is going to have to act on it sooner or later.

Anyway just another strange story developing in the good old U.S.A

I don't have an opinion on the story but I do on this phrase

" I could care less"

What is it meant to mean?  You do care, just not a lot?

I understand the expression "I couldn't care less"  it makes sense, but "I could care less" ...

For some reason it really bothers me.

anyway

The story is kind of weird isn't it.

Edited my original post to make it clearer.

Her ex is a black guy and they had a daughter and she's always been interested in the subject. She probably found it was easier to deal with the NAACP's own constituency if she took the skin colour issue off the table. This would be much like people who come to NZ from elsewhere and then take speech lessons so they can sound like real kiwis. It just removes any stigma around being different to the 'target group'.

As far as I can tell, the issue isn't that she's black or white....It's that she was white presenting as black.

I can't see a problem if she's been doing a good job....and that seems to be the case.

What I DO object to is the TPP getting 15 seconds on One News last night and this story getting a full minute. I actually watched the TV news for the first time in ages and they confirmed again for me it is a waste of time thanks to upside-down news priorities.

My principle thought on reading it was just "Why?"!

The older I get, the more odd the world becomes and the less in general I want to have to do with most of it.

For me the message and the need for the message is more important.

That stuff article didn't seem to mention the part about how Dolezal applied to Howard University to study art with a portfolio of 'exclusively African-American portraiture,' the university 'took her for a black woman' and gave her a full scholarship.

Yes, so true.

I've been watching Happiness with Steve Coogan on Soho. First episode I really did not 'get' but ever since, it makes perfect sense to me! Like Dilbert cartoons - I swear Scott Adams has been spying on my life.

So, so true. Big love to Dilbert. Can the world get any weirder?

She has a valid and important message, she should drop the act and own up, her continued denial is deflecting from the message and feeding the rednecks.

She is not a "biracial person" - she describes herself as "transracist".
