Someone posted this on the IRC geekzone channel last night and I just thought that all of us here would appreciate this...

http://www.tecfre.com/awesome-cpu-desk-picture-geeky-diy-project/

now that you've seen it, on a completely different matter anyone happen to have 434 identical cpu chips lying around?

Ho hum... is only aesthetics... if they were all connected - then man woah!  A real geek desk needs functonality, an interface of some description!!!

Built ins:
- USB Hub
- Ehternet adaptors
- Wireless everything (incl. power)

MTCW anyways...

Cheers, Stevo

Where's the coffee??

Where's the empty pizza boxes??

That desk is far too tidy to belong to a serious geek. Check out my desk (no pizza, date scones - morning tea time):

Its the Logitech x-530.

Because the Macbook I'm using as well as the X360 do not output 5.1 sound over 2.1 chanels (as in 3.5mm jack for the macbook, and Audio Red/White for the 360) I have a little adapter which spreads the 2.1 audio over the 5 speakers/1 sub.

The adapter is mainly for game consoles so its Red/White to three 3.5mm jacks(for the speakers) so I have to use another Adapter (lol) for my macbook which is just a cable that splits the 3.5mm headphone jack into red/white cable.  I end up having to switch between the X360 and the Macbook audio buy pulling out the X360 cables from the adapter, and putting in the Macbooks.

Not a very smart set up, but it works well for me and its cheap.

The speakers are only $140~ when I bought them a year ago, very nice I believe (I originaly bought them for my PC with a sound card in the lounge, but I prefer them in my room :) )

No desk here @ home - just a solitary laptop in the lounge.

The garage is half full of gear in piles, but the desk there is a dumping ground that only gets sat at if I need to attend an OS install in person - I never sit at it for any other purpose. It has several PC boxes, keyboards and a single CRT.

Work desktop:

HP TC4400 Tablet + dock
DSE 19" Widescreen sitting on a 5" riser
Standard HP k/b + mouse
OKTA Touch
Uniden deskphone
USB VoIP phone connected back through to my Asterisk box @ home

Will try and take photo sometime...

Wireless is the order of the day with a reasonable speaker system under the desk along with a PCgear blackbeauty machine. Also not in picture are the phones or modems I use to connect to the tubes.

Its both. Resolution is not an issue as it can support the post 1024x768 resolutions :)

Though - widescreen puts a spin on things...

I remember going from 1024x768 to 1680x1050.

I'm never, ever, ever going back.
