What websites do you Aucklanders use for deciding when and how to get home?
There seem to be several options that give different results.

I know google maps users crowdsourced congestion from phones, but which website uses real data from the embedded roads sensors? Which is best?

Options:

google maps

https://at.govt.nz/driving-parking/live-traffic-congestion/
http://maps.aa.co.nz/traffic/roadwatch

I use the Auckland Traffic Android app, its very easy to just flick through your saved cameras to see what's in store for you, or what lane to be in when there's a accident further up the road.

To be honest, Google Maps' traffic seems pretty accurate It says I will be there in XX time and it's usually just +- 2 minutes if not on the dot, even with 'red' traffic.

Tried Waze, TomTom traffic and Google maps

The only one that gives consistently right ETAs and best routes for my commute (length of North Shore) is Google

To be honest I just kind of go home when I'm ready, the difference seems negligible in checking for traffic conditions to me.

Waze warns you about police cars and roadworks ahead, which is nice, but Google has the most entertaining pronunciation of Maori street names, so I mix between the two.

I usually drive around the fringe of the city during rush hour so I don't expect any map software to be able to accurately predict travel times in those conditions. On the open road they seem to give pretty similar times, both slightly conservative.

I dont bother. I leave when I leave. Arrive when I arrive. App telling me the traffic is crap just annoys me.
