Hi All,

Been looking at importing from Japan rather then buying locally.

Mainly due to the fact that I can save some money from importing then buying here.

Anyone have any good recommendation on sites they used or have experienced importing from Japan?

I found the below:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/services/trades/automotive/auction-736092842.htm

http://carwebs.co.nz/

Anyone has another website etc they used or has used the above website before?

Basically looking at getting a spacious SUV have a baby and with my current car with the stroller that's the boot gone.

Thanks

There's a forum dedicated to vehicles, which is probably the place to ask this (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=162).

There was a long thread a month or so back on exactly this topic, and there may indeed be others, but this is the one I was thinking of: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=162&topicid=161839

We just imported an Audi A3 from Japan, took about 2 months all up. Was a lot of work, but we saved probably close to $4k. We used JPCtrade.com.

That GPforums thread was me... I stand by it. I recommend the process but I can NOT recommend carwebs. I am sure that they have had many people use them without incident but when they made a clear error (that they admitted openly) they utterly failed to make it right and that cost me well over a grand of my money. They admitted their mistake and their GM told me they were not going to do anything about it for me.

Do it, but don't use them.

Cheers -N

I am interested in this too. For me, I am looking for either a hybrid or an electric car - and getting these from japan is significantly cheaper than second hand here.

Any particular sites people recommend?
