I can't always decipher the shortcuts you guys use, is there a previous thread to refer to, or can we just come up with a few newies just for laughs?

Some of the more obscure ones that are real would be appreciated, too.  I'm looking for one that stands for For What It's Worth, but that last 'W' gets in the way.  I'm thinking FWIT.  Is that already taken?

And try not to corrupt me please, I am an innocent young thing...

(That laugh you just heard was from Mrs Boss in the back office...)

Check The Jargon File (jargon list), then the NetLingo and the OLOCA.

The OLOCA is the easiest one to work through, and the most useful INMHO (hehe).

Although it doesn't have ROFL (rolling on floor laughing), which is one of my favourites.

Just browsing through it, I noted the description/explanantion for RTFM:

"Read The Manual. Used to gently guide a newbie user to the manual page for the tool he's trying to use. The "F" is historical, and was initially added for emphasis. Nowadays it's just plain necessary."

Souldn't this read as "Nowadays it's just plain unnecessary."?? Is this an example of a Freudian typo?

Not at all... It needs reinforcement most of the times these days...

Often 'F' is used to make acronyms grammatically correct.  As you can see, WT and STU just aren't right.
