Asking for a friend who has decided that he has run out of NZ women and wants a Russian one who doesn't speak English

He is about to visit her and wants to take her a Android tablet same as his that they can then chat on

He is using google translate but would like some sort of chat messenger App that they could converse with and have instant translate

Not asking much i know

But any suggestions would be useful (not including introductions to your Wife, Sister or Mother)

Cheers Alan

"and wants a Russian one who doesn't speak English"

Good question Nathan

unsure but we all have friends who avoid the easy things in life
presumably a Russian that spoke English would be a better option

Skype translator seems to only be for Windows 8.1 or 10 at the moment

Ack. I think you are right.

At least Microsoft seem to be getting their priorities right now.

For Skype updates, Windows Phone is usually the last platform to receive new versions!

Yes he is nuts.
On Thursday night take him to a good quality NZ brothel where they've got English-speaking Russian girls working, pay them to entertain him, to tell him the truth of what's most likely to happen to him if he goes, and to get him so drunk on vodka that with a bit of luck he misses his flight the next day.  Hopefully he'll tweak to the fact that he's got a better chance of finding a good girlfriend in that brothel - one who's already NZ resident and won't need every cent this poor guy may have, can borrow from relatives, or steal, so that the new "girlfriend" can apply for NZ residency, be bought out of white slavery, or whatever other expensive hitch crops up to get in the way of potential martial bliss.
If that fails, then give him the warmest farewell you can muster - as if you're never going to see him again - which may well turn out to be true.

This is a weird/slightly creepy use case, but the HP Stream 7 runs Windows 8.1 (upgradable to 10) and is fairly cheap.

You have some personal experience to back this up? Or have you just watched the movie Birthday Girl?

Many years ago, back in the last century in fact, the US Immigration and Naturalisation Service made a policy decision that this was a legitimate and effective way for men in the US to find partners.

I hope you're joking - and not trying to give "confidence" to the "trick".

Are you scared to answer my question above?

Do you know what you are talking about?

Do you have any experience in this matter?

Have you ever done anything like this yourself?

Have you spent a couple of decades hanging out on the internet forums and mailing lists where western men openly discuss their experiences and report on their successes or failures?

Or do you base this on the occasional case that is reported in the press without having the intelligence to understand that the vast majority of cases - the ones that work out well - don't make the news?

The US gov't changed their stance from one of extreme skepticism in the early nineties to general acceptance later in the same decade. They did that after seeing sufficient hard evidence of couples ending up married in the US and with a divorce rate comparable to US-US marriages.

It is essentially an alpha release as far as accuracy and therefore actually dangerous to actually use.

Google translate and with text input will be far safer and both parties stand a chance at learning something.
