Today I was trying to view a video on You Tube.

Try as I might, the video would not load from the link in the Google search. Neither would any video from that search.

It simply hung, going nowhere.

Many other random test pages opened fine at the same time.

What would cause that?

Many things could cause what you describe.

Could be DNS problem, ISP congestion, maintenance over at YouTube, browser glitch, FlashPlayer issue...etc.

If it happens regularly, you could try flushing your DNS, rebooting your router, installing the latest version of Flash and getting your browser up to date.  It's hard to pin-point the actual cause unless it's a regular thing where you can go through a process of elimination.

If it were happening to me, I'd be tempted to blame the browser for the funny behavior, or Flash.  Flash has been doing some funny things ever since that major exploit was found a month or so ago.

Try this URL and post the response you get... It will tell you what Google cache you are mapped t0:

http://redirector.c.youtube.com/report_mapping

Also would be good if you could give more details as above about ISP etc.

Cheers - N

If you have any script blockers they can cause problems as there is at least one other domain that scripts are loaded from for Youtube to work.

Since it is Vodafone it is probably their proxy doing funny things. Try accessing Youtube via a VPN and see if it works.
