Hi

Trying to ship an unusually shaped package from either the US, Canada or Estonia.

Too big for youshop (see youshop thread.....unhelpful CS rep) and get similar answers from most of the other freight forwarders for getting it shipped from the US....or it's uneconomical.

I have tried the price checker on FedEx, ups, Dhl, TNT etc. all of which want $300.

Parcel is 67"x12"x3" and weighs approx 3Kg.

Anyone any advice on where to try for some reasonably priced international shippers?

Isnt there a size limit for what is considered a parcel?
67 inches in one dimension is rather large if im reading your measurements correctly.
I know of people who hadto use freighting in order to ship things from the states because there was a size limit at the US end, i think it was somewhere in the 1.2-1.3m mark as the limit.

For something as awkwardly shaped as that, then $300 doesn't seem unreasonable (not necessarily fair though)

As long as you weren't after it quickly, you could try and find a NZ company that ships from the US and see if you can get it included in a shipment/container/whatever.

Not used them myself but try kiwishipping.co.nz. They are part of mainfreight and may be better able to handle an unusual sized item

Yeah, it is a long item (not wide or tall).

Just struggling to come to terms with people charging over $300 for under 0.10m3 weighing 3kg......

I use worldship, their website is ws1.com. Their on-line pricing tool says they would charge US$87.05 for a parcel that size. The ship to NZ using DHL and it takes 4-5 days to arrive. There is also a one-off cost of US$24 for "basic" membership but it is still well under the $300 you've been quoted.

Just make sure you check their FAQs for restricted items as they have some strange restrictions due to a lot of their business being to the middle east.

I'm sure others can recommend similar companies.

Has anyone any experiences of Ship2U?

I get a rate of $74 NZD (verified in an email to the company) which is really cheap.....but not wanting to get stung if they are crap!!
