Please vote for me here:

http://vectorfutureofenergy.co.nz/page/yurybotkov

to connect me to the future of energy = Tesla powerwall battery + solar panel

When voting - put "Supported by Geekzone.co.nz" to raise profile of this forum at the same time

Some of the feedbacks I've got from my voters and many of them are engineers or IT geeks themselves.

Could be useful to developers who created that campaign for Vector (IT geeks I suppose) and for you if you will be designing voting campaign yourself in the future:

Voting is not that user-friendly for various platforms / OS and channels (perhaps they wanted for the voter to make an extra effort :))

  • IE on PC does not work, works on Chrome or Firefox.
  • May not work on tablets or smartphones if you vote via Facebook
  • email goes into Promotion folder not into inbox if use gmail
  • email goes into Junk in the corporate environment
  • it is not obvious that you have to click orange Vote button after you put your email in and, when that email arrives - it is overloaded with info - not obvious you have to click that dark blue link to confirm the vote.

Please Vote for me.
My promise to community is outlined on the linked page above. I am known by delivering 100% on my promises.

I'll vote when I'm at home so I can use an old ISP email address. Which I can only check on my home computer.

Even though I don't agree with putting powerwall batteries in homes. I would rather you get it. Instead of someone who will think that they will get unlimited free power.

Thanks you very much for your Votes!

I prefer to put everything to the test, to scrutinize and analyze.

That Tesla powerwall battery is a novelty. There are no stats. I will start collecting stats.

Information about Li-Ion and Li-Po batteries introduced by various manufacturers here and there is controversial. There are rumors of increased capacity but decreased lifespan in some battery packs (e.g. Nissan Leaf batteries loosing capacity quickly within 3 years).

I was keeping records of my Electricity use and amount I've paid for the last many years, last 6 in that place where it will be installed when I win that competition.
That would be a good reference point for comparisons "before and after".
I will plot and graph those stats to be better presented.
I have almost all of my appliances checked for their power consumption.
When the solar is in place I plan to add timings to that table - what is used and when - during the day or after sunset - to see where the waste is and what is the best way to save on power.

Some are suggesting not to take shower before work - but rather at work and not taking shower on a rainy day but rather hop out with a soap and let the rain do the job :-)

We'll use engineering approach instead and see what's in it for an average family living frugal life in an average house.

3 more days to run in that crazy marathon, Thanks guys for your support.

Done. :)

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

First time I try to vote: please submit a valid email (which it was)
Second time: please submit a valid email (" ")
Third time: Thank you, please confirm your vote in the email we sent...... nothing.

They don't make it easy for you!

I know, that is why I posted above note for geeks to be aware of customer experience in case you'll be involved as a developer with similar campaign in the future.

Note: if yours was gmail - it may went into Promotion folder and not into Inbox. Please check.

I am getting feedback from another local developer - he has valid email and his vote did not come through. If IT people can't vote - imagine how difficult it is for moms and dads.

But thank you for trying. Today Vector site was down for few minutes - maybe that is when you've tried.

Sorry mate but I voted for the hospice.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

At work our mail server is in AUS - and Votes are not coming through :- (
I wonder if they blocked IPs geographically?
That would make no sense as there are so many New Zealand companies which have their mail servers hosted overseas...

Votes are coming through now. Hopefully I can get few more by the midnight Sunday.
It is so cool to talk to people while I am doing that - getting to know something new from them and sharing what I already know with them.

One gentlemen shared his view after he's done research about Hybrid Solar panels - electricity and hot water at the same time - i.e. separators between panels are tubes filled with water
Another guy decided not to buy particular second hand hybrid car after talking to me - saving himself few grands
Gave away a bunch of text books to engineering students
Advised guy from Christchurch how to fix his old amplifier
Found T-shirt with design I like from the artist.

and many other interesting interactions....

Although Voting campaign like that is exhausting but communication with people is rewarding and enriching....

Thanks guys and please Vote for me!
