Well, at least they told us they are going to send us more advertising from non flybuys members.

We have updated our Fly Buys Membership Terms and Conditions and Privacy Statement to make them clearer about what personal information we collect and how we use it.

The changes mean that we may:

from time to time send you special offers and deals that we think you'll like from businesses that are not in the Fly Buys network. These offers will always come from us at Fly Buys. If they are not what you want, you can easily opt out of receiving them at any time;
carry out data analytics services for the purpose of providing insights and aggregated data (that is, data that cannot be linked to an individual) to organisations outside of the Fly Buys programme.

By using your Fly Buys card after 6 September 2015, you will be taken to have accepted these changes.

Not really fussed.

I can opt out of the marketing bollocks and not too fussed if they appropriately manage my data.

My OneCard tells Progressive a lot more about me than my Fly Buys (oh noes! They know I buy Petrol at Z!)

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

I don't do Flybuys...but I wonder if the aggravation here is that they are extending their income (ie selling your stuff to more people) with no real kickback/benefit for you as a consumer of the card (asides from needing to ctrl/alt/del more frequently)

Well, its not even that really - they know when you've bought petrol at Z, but they don't know when you've bought it elsewhere. They may or may not be able to make some assumptions from the amount you purchase, and the regularity, but that's about it.
They know I very rarely spend enough at New World to bother swiping my Fly Buy card there, but they don't know if I do the rest of my shopping at their sister company Pak N Save, or at their duopoly competitors Countdown. Countdown know reasonably accurately how much I spend there from my One Card, and from what I purchase, they can assume I do most of my shopping elsewhere, but they also don't know if I'm spending at the similarly-priced New World across the road from them, or the far cheaper Pak N Save 10 minutes away in town. None of them have actually asked me.

It all depends on how much you benefit from it. If you already spend large amounts with providers for things like insurance, petrol and power etc, then it maybe worth it, but you need to do a lot of spending, and percentage wise it isn't that great. Vouchers end up being best value, as the goods you get for the points, you can usually get 20-50% off when on sale/price rotation, which you can then use your vouchers for..

Orrrr, instead of swiping a FlyBuys card, swipe a OneSmart card. Instant APD instead. Not the most awesome rate, but it's still better than $0. And there's promotions for it somewhat frequently too so bonus APD.

What? I think you're completely missing the point of the thread, which is about Fly Buys privacy policy changes. Loading up a random app doesn't address that issue even slightly.

What? I think you're completely missing the point of the thread, which is about Fly Buys privacy policy changes. Loading up a random app doesn't address that issue even slightly.

sure it does, your not using card, so your not agreeing to the privacy policy changes.

That's not how it works, and you know it.

Hmm.... if it came down to arguing with fly buys over this point I would have a good go at it.

I can't recall in the recent past receiving anything from them detailing these changes......

And you'd lose if you were to have a go at it. You agreed to their terms already, including any minor modifications they make. They would have contacted you by email if they have your email on file. Otherwise, it'll probably be on your next statement.

In order to get one of those New World Club Cards, I had to sign up with Fly Buys.
Tried to resist but failed

From my shopping history, I am not at all concerned with receiving a few additional emails - because I doubt I will ever shop at a Fly Buys member company and if I did then I will forget about the card
