I know this is a long shot, but what the heck...

I'm dead keen to purchase tickets to Iron Maiden, and note that their fan club has first dibs, starting Thursday. I can't justify purchasing membership to the FC just for the purpose of ticket purchasing, so am wondering if there are any Geekzoners who

a) are members
b) won't be using their allocated amount of tickets
c) don't mind sharing their pre-sale password so I can buy a couple

If anyone here fits the bill, please let me know.

My experience with pre-sales operated via ticket operators or radio stations have traditionally involved an allocation of seats for the back 1/2 of the arena (especially if that venue is Vector Arena). It has been a common experience to purchase tickets via a pre-sale (usually within minutes of them going on sale), then finding much better seats hours (and sometimes even days) after the tickets go on sale to the general public.

Because of this, it's not uncommon for me to do a search for tickets as soon as a pre-sale goes on sale, and if the tickets are in the second half of the arena, I'll take a roll of the dice and attempt to secure some as soon as the tickets are offered for general sale. One time I even got lucky and had the promoter swap my pre-sale tickets for ones much better (thanks to a sob story about it being for my daughters first real concert experience). The exception to this rule has been pre-sales offered to fan club members, who seem to have the best seats at the front of the arena allocated to them. Of course, the obvious answer here is to join the FC myself. But with tickets at NZD $150, and FC membership at GBP 30 (NZD $73.14 at the current exchange rate), this is a luxury I can't justify.

That being said, I'll still be giving The Rock pre-sale a go, if it's my best option. I will have to hope that I don't get rear of arena seats, as you then have to question whether to purchase, or wait until general availability (and risk a ticketing site meltdown resulting in missing out).

There is a plan C, which I implemented for Metallica (purchase a second set of tickets, and sell the first), but my wife didn't take too kindly with that last time I did this :-D

Welcome to NZ venues.

I went to one, Metallica, Id not pay money to see any show in NZ again.

Buy tickets in Aus and pre plan your tickets.

I got my ticket on the Rock presale.

It was at the opposite end to the stage but at a venue like Vector I don't mind that.  It was in the upper bowl but only row CC, so close to the walkway between lower and upper bowl. Looking like they are close to the middle of the row.

The added beauty for us non-Aucklanders of getting tickets at pre-sale is that there are still cheap flights available so everything is booked and can't wait.  That doesn't stop all the muppets complaining in four months time about conspiracy theories of Air NZ putting their prices up when there's a concert on.

Saw them a couple of years ago at Hisense Arena in Melbourne.  Very similar to Vector.  Good times.

I ended up doing well out of the Rock presale too. Twice, as it turns out :-)

tl;dr version: I may have tickets to sell, if my brother doesn't want 'em. Read on for the full story.

I initially purchased some tickets that were at the rear of the arena, but in row AA, and pretty much right in the middle. Should have great sound, with nobody in front of you (there's a glass barrier before a drop down to the lower bowl level). They were a bit further back than I wanted, but the other attributes were good enough for me to purchase them. Seats are approximately where the red X is in this pic:-

I kept an eye on tickets all day, and noted that the allocated seating ones went reasonably quickly. But around 3:30PM... BANG! The search turned up seats right near the stage (pretty much what I was hoping for with the FC pre-sale). I snapped them up quick smart. The new seats are approximately where the white cross is:-

I'm wondering whether they added FC tickets to the pool to cater for demand, although with two more pre-sales to come, I'm not sure how likely that is.

In any case, I now have two spare tickets that I no longer need. I'll be offering them to my brother first (will ring him today), but if anyone is interested let me know. Not looking to profit, so I'll be selling them for $320. That is ticket price + all fees. Let me know if you're interested, and I'll ping you if my brother doesn't want them.
