I see that the Herald released a new app end of last week.  It now requires you to set up an account to read anything.  Wonder if this is a precursor to the paywall??  See how many people register then hit them like the NBR..

At least this new version works on my Nexus 7 unlike the last one..

well, when they force the upgrade that app will get removed from my phone, I have too many forced login's as it is and don't have any desire to add more

I've got the new app on a variety of devices (including iPad and Android) and thus far I haven't been forced to register tor access/read any content. I just selected the "not now" option (or whatever it was titled) when starting it for the first time, and have had no alerts saying I'll need to register later. Does this happen at some point, or is it they want to give the impression registration is required to increase the numbers they can track etc?

I don't even use their app any more. Haven't done for a year or two now. I just have a shortcut on my home screen to the webpage and it loads just fine and doesn't have a huge app footprint like the last one I tried.
