Just a bit of fun and nostalgia really...

What is something from your childhood that you still love today? Extra points for photos, either back then or now :)

It could be anything really. A specific TV show, Movies, Toy, maybe even a certain type of food.

I grew up in the 90's, so for me it was all about Gameboys, PS1 etc. Wish I still owned a PS1, however I don't think I really kept anything from Childhood sadly.

Edit: Oh there was also this place in Wellington called Mel's Diner, they had the best milkshakes ever. Closed down in the late 90's I think. That's something that has stuck with me.

Your turn...

Like many I guess I would have to say Star Wars. Looking back on it all six films are quite sh*te and yet I still remember seeing A New Hope at the pictures as a lad in the 70s and being blown away by it.

I still haven't watched the trailer that came out yesterday, in part because I have been burnt by too many trailers lately being a way better watch than the movie they were for. I do look forward to December though :D

Pit Stop II on the Commodore 64. Also, Summer Games. I broke many, many joysticks playing Summer Games.

A mortal fear of swimming in the ocean? Big bro used to run the projectors at local theatre. It seemed cool at the time to be allowed to sneak in to see Jaws when it first came out. Haven't been in the ocean since! Pictures and an ice cream for 50c was pretty cool though, not the second mortgage it costs these days. I do however still love the movie.

So does California move east sometime during the next day, or did I miss some news?

Yes. Unfortunately it will mean the end of the world but, really, no big loss...

Bah! By the powers invested in me as King of the Universe, I hereby retroactively declare California to be on the east coast.

KISS

Recently went to their gig at Vector Arena, 35 years after the first time I saw them...epic.

This time around I took my 10 year old son and started the family tradition of "Dad's first gig is your first gig"...

Tetris... A couple of years ago I installed a NES emulator and still fire up the original Tetris a few times a week - it's pretty much the only game I play.

Cheers  N
