Just received the next edition in our letterbox, starting to look much more thin compared to previous years!

I do remember some talk of being about to opt out of receiving a phonebook? To me this is a waste of paper for a lot of people as if I need a phone number I just jump on google or use the white pages app.

Maybe it's just me, but I find the "search engine" at whitepages.co.nz to be next to useless.

It is, but google is much better for finding businesses anyway. Except for stupid businesses like a plumber near me who think that being in the yellow pages is fine and end up with only their home number listed on google but think that noone uses it.

I think this is what you're after https://www.ypgbooks.co.nz/opt-out/

Just got ours. Definitely shrinking.

We are no longer listed, although we were in previous years.

Going unlisted was not at our request, but it doesn't bother us - hopefully we'll get fewer cold calls from "Microsoft service" in future.

It doesnt help. Some of my numbers have never been listed and still get calls. Them and "information technical services" etc.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

True, but they're getting thinner every year - don't throw out 2014.

Yuck! Wrap those things up in some brown paper so it looks presentable.

Agree that physical phonebooks are past their use-by date.

It is, however, a fantastic fundraiser for my son's scout group (and, I expect, many other community groups around NZ).  Although the bagging takes up all of Friday night, and the delivery half of Saturday, it generates the same $$$$ as about 30 - 40 days of doing sausage sizzles.  So when you take it out of its bag and put it in the drawer or the recycling or the rubbish, look upon it as your contribution to the community.

To answer the OP's question.  Yes, you can opt out, you will receive a little postcard instead  (but spare a thought for the deliverer if you do so, because tracking each exception is more time consuming than just dropping off a book).

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?
