If your talking about all the posts that have been locked after 30 days.

I think the reason for that is to stop people replying to /bumping up old posts.

You can always ask a mod for a post to be unlocked, if need be.

Correct. Many times we had someone that never used a forum before instead of creating a new discussion just posting a reply to an old, completely unrelated thread. So we decided to lock anything that had no new replies in 30 days. Just to keep things tidy.
