Bought an item off TM and specified Parcel Post for delivery across Auckland. NZ Post states 3 working days nationwide. After 3 days had passed I contacted the seller who said it was common for it to take 5-15 working days! It has now been 10 days since the item was supposedly posted, I contacted them again yesterday and they basically said be patient, it will probably be there soon.
Has anyone heard of Parcel Post taking this long to travel across town or am I being conned here?

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

It's Christmas, things may be slower due to volumes. Also they may not post the day you pay, it might take a little time to get to the post office.

Be patient.

They said it was posted last Monday, 8 working days ago.

Post across Auckland will not have any NZ Post delays.

The seller didn't send it when they said, and may not have sent it yet.
If there were other send options, this may be their way of promoting their preferred option.

It can take a while. Letter posted at Riccarton Post Office used to take average of 7 days to get back to a P O Box at the same Post Office.
(Confirmed by the postmark)
That was before their cutbacks!

Call up NZ Post and give them the detail, they might be able to offer some information. 8 days is too long, even at this time of year, either they didn't post when they said or it's gone wayward.

Was the item sent as a tracked item? It does sound like they haven't sent the item and are screwing you around. I posted an item on Monday and its on route for delivery today and I'm in the south island!

I've also posted items locally in the past and the purchaser had got it within 24 hours.

Not tracked, just normal parcel post. I just find their claim of 5-15 days pretty odd and wonder if in fact its coming from overseas but they said posted on Monday, perhaps posted from China cry.

Out of interest where was the seller located? some sellers are listed as being in Aust otherwise without sounded racist was the seller asian? If so they could be buy and sending from China.

Can you find the same item on Ali-express for cheaper than what you purchase it for?

Seller location is given as "Auckland City, Auckland, NZ"
No idea of ethnicity. Available from Aliexpress for a roughly similar price.

Auckland to Auckland normal parcel post should still be 3 working days, 4 at a stretch given the time of year.

Next day to my PO Box is normal across Auckland. To a house it varies as they only carry so many things out on the bike and there is a hell of a lot of parcels at the moment. Unfortunately when you choose the cheap non tracked version this happens.

As an ex NZ Post employee, I have fairly good knowledge of their systems.

It is possible for items to be delayed, typically due to sorting errors (people aren't perfect). These errors happen every day, but the overall percentage is extremely low.
Items that are detected as mis-sorted are typically upgraded to a faster service and the customer never knows it happened.

The seller saying it is routine for it to take 10 to 15 days is what makes me certain they are misleading you somehow.
The second most likely possibility is that the seller is terrible at addressing items.

That is an EXTREMELY bold call. Frankly, if there was mention of the seller here it would be defamatory.

As a frequent seller on Trademe, it is not at all uncommon for items sent by NZ Post Untracked Parcel Post to take well over a week  I dare for you to go make that kind of statement in the Trade Me Top Sellers forum and just see what kind of response you'd get.

For starters, delivery is only 3 days a week now.

NZ Post has as much admitted that maximum delivery times took a dive by way of increasing their domestic claims period to 21 days (from 14).

I wouldn't because that forum is full of dickheads who have no idea how to run a business.

Post is a pain. You have to go to the post shop to send. We would do that once a week as there were some tight rural whiners (as evidenced on here) that wouldnt want courier because they were rural. Difference is we told people that friday and sometimes tuesday were posting days.
