This isn't a surprise or news since Apple opened their NZ online store earlier last year.

Heh - I thought this had happened a long time ago. I'm not sure how this will translate into more competition, though? All the goods have to be sourced through apple anyway, so unless there is a deal done at a manufactuering plant (which I'm sure would be curtailed by Apple fast enough ...)

There may be other savings another distro could bring. I know Renaissance was getting their apple stuff out of Australia.
Double freight (China -> Australia -> NZ) would add a hefty sum to the unit price.

Perhaps, with Apples apple.com/nz presence and NZ online store, they might open a couple of physical Apple Stores! Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch would be great!
