Hey guys.

Im wanting to buy myself a computer desk, but don't want to spend more than $100, even $100 I don't really want to part with but such is life.

I would like to have 3 drawers on each side, or at the least 2 drawers and I am wanting to buy brand new. I've had a look online and cant really see anything, but I haven't had a deep look yet.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

You can often pickup something really flash from Turners. I got a really nice desk and drawers for $80, the retail new was probably over 1k new. It was ex government department stuff and in good condition. But you can also possibly get something from a business closing down.

Actually would be funny to go into one with a tape measure and check the size of a few things ;)

Try second and dealers and auction houses and you should be able to pick up something older but solid.

The market for second hand office furniture seems to have all but collapsed. Preference seems to be cheap new stuff from Warehouse stationary etc.  It all seems to be lightweight and wobbly, but I guess OK for homework etc.

Four to six beer crates and a sheet of plywood... but that might come to over your budget.

You are asking a lot for a very small budget. Good quality desks aren;t cheap.

I don't think you're going to get much new for under $100. You can get a plain desk at the Warehouse for $40. They don't seem to have cheap drawers but you could get some small bookcases for $20 each.

What ever you choose sit at the thing and decide if you can tolerate any flex/wobble etc.

Some retailers fit additional bracing to shop floor units to stiffen them up, so have a look underneath.

They screw them to the display stand at the warehouse which makes things signifigantly less wobbly. Also the fasteners into the low grade particle board loosen up over time and you have to pull the whole thing apart to re-tighten them, which you can only do a couple of times before they strip out.

Junk furniture like that is a bit like setting your cash on fire.
