Yes I know this is minor but the main story of stuff shows the following.

Perhaps the person writing the story also has Alzheimer's and forgot that nobody would be around from 1014.

Pretty obvious mistake, do they not even look at their stories before they publish them.

Maybe I should have posted this in the small things that annoy you thread, but you do see a lot of this stuff nowadays.

Edit : How ironic that I posted the wrong picture to start with, that was a big fail on my part. (Slinks away muttering to myself)

"you do see a lot of this stuff nowadays."

Sure do. Lack of proofreading, or general carelessness and lack of pride? Its one thing in general use, say here, but when the write/publisher knows its going to a nationwide audience? Mind boggling.

Having worked in newspapers in the old days, what you're seeing today is a slip in the veneer of quality that has always been provided by skilled subs, over sloppy writing and press releases that have always been part of our news.  Now that mainstream media are getting rid of their skilled (and expensive) staff you see the paper for what it really is, and always has been.  A mouthpiece for the establishment and vested interests.
