Pre compiled show purchased cheap from overseas with MediaWorks throwing some talentless chaps between the clips.

Its "americas funniest home videos" made much much worse and much less funny.

Both programs are a good reason to turn the TV off and go read a book.

The issue is the waste of air space with the 2 idiots (trying) to make jokes in between clips (or even during clips) that are not funny whatsoever I don't even know if I've seen a second of witty humour - if I'm bored and need to zone out by watching tv and this happens to be on, I generally watch it muted. It's an embarrassment to New Zealand I really hope they don't play these guys overseas.

They don't... we've got a single dude doing voice over in Oz.

I'll stick to watching the clips on youtube though.

Look at it this way, this show probably costs a fraction of what Jono and Ben's show does and does higher ratings in the same timeslot. If NZ on Air did fund it(no idea if this is the case) it would be a success story for them as it's one of a handful of shows that can sustain itself commercially. Yeah it's not wonderful TV but it's clear many people enjoy/tolerate it more than anything else in it's timeslot.

My kids have been watching British total wipe out on youtube etc. It finally dawned on my that Richard Hammond has probably never gone to Argentina, sits in a BBC studio and pretends to pass over to Lisa, or Jody or whatever the female presenter who stands at the pool side is called.

They've cut that show to hades and gone, interspersing different attempts, dragging out the fat losers run (stagger, crawl, waddle etc etc) to multiple video bites between other contestants to make fun of them as long as possible.

Makes sense that TV would start to scavenge Youtube for content as there are some blooming good producers out there.

TVNZ should wind up all it's broadcast spending, it's a dead and useless medium. "Timeslots", pfft, who let's someone else dictate their schedule? Instead release content in podcasts & youtube channels with NZ only geoblocks.

As for ads: this content is paid for by the NZ taxpayer and should be freely available to same, having to watch sponsored content to access it isn't "free" IMO.
