Just wondering if anyone had noticed Trademe's new logo which appears to have changed recently?

I'm a bit undecided on it at the moment, my first thought was that it was quite ugly - But I guess they thought that their brand was in need of a refresh to bring it up to more 'modern times'...

I'm using trademe less and less now.  I find the free shipping quick enough for me from China for most basic things.  Prices can be similar to trademe, but you have to pay shipping here in NZ.

Anything larger/non electronic etc then it's still the goto, just noticed I'm using it much less lately.

Hadn't even noticed the logo change.  Will go and take a look...

We should all start a petition to have it removed.

I don't mind it I think it looks ok. Don't use it much myself only if I want to sell something. Other than that I take advantage of the cheaper prices and free shipping from overseas.

The logo looks OK, but the new mobile site is another story.

Yes.

Noticed when I check this afternoon.

Not liking it so far!  Bring back the old design.

Lets sign a petition and call for a TMexit?

I'd rather a decent search function

I worked for Trade Me a good few years ago now. Have to laugh when I (occasionally) use the site now and still come across pages/things that were out of date/needing an update even back then (Mid-late 2000's). The "My Trade Me" page, for example.

This,

The major issue for me is the inability to select multiple locations at one time.

I'm in Palmerston North and when searching for cars etc I want to see results from everything in a 2hr radius, so Wellington Wanganui Masterton Napier Ohakune and maybe New Plymouth.

Presently the above requires me to create 5 or so daily notification searches, with only the location being different between them.

It's friggen mental.

I'd happily take an icon of a pile of horse dung if the provided me with the tools to maximise my experience of the site itself.

It needs an advanced search to select more than just one single location at a time.

I've raised this with TM for years, but it never changes.

I'm in the same boat, worked for Trade Me a couple of years ago as a dev. Trade Me has a very conflicted self-image. It's of that awkward size that demands a more rigorous, if not a tad corporate, structure, yet tries to maintain a cool/hip Google-esque startup feel. I'm guessing that contributes to a lot of the slowness in changes and progress. Rachel would say "It won't happen overnight, but it will happen" but, at Trade Me, you really shouldn't hold your breath.

Speaking of searches, they have implemented the use of Elasticsearch in some areas. It would be fantastic if their cumbersome and "organically grown" search functionality was replaced with that. Yes, it's a huge job that would include schema change and, again, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I still use Trade Me. It's very much horses for courses really. Each platform out there has its pros and cons.

It's an improvement on the old one, which I thought rather infantile and amateurish.

Still tinkering with presentation rather than addressing some of the holes in their business.....

I like the old logo, it somehow felt very representative of the Trade Me spirit without the above negative connotations. That's just me though, and I think it further highlights the conflicting self-image of Trade Me.

^^^^ That... exactly that!

It's the blue thing. Reminds me a bit of that YouTube kiwi video... Looks like he's about to run off a cliff.

That video made me tear up.
