I have two currently. One is my Lenovo T430, the other is a kindle paperwhite 3. The lenovo is simply the nicest laptop I have ever used, it looks like a brick, but the way everything feels is top notch even for it being second hand and relatively old now.

The kindle is my new favourite thing. It is single purpose and highly functional because of that. The screen is excellent and it has caused me to read more books in the last couple of weeks than I have in years. It makes reading a pleasure and the fact I can have 100's of books on it is just too cool.

Anyone else got any favourite pieces of tech? Could be from now or nostalgia pieces.

I've got 2x Alienware laptops, an iMac, Nexus 5x however my favourite (and also cheapest) piece of tech is my Toshiba Chromebook 2.

Right now my favourite bit of kit is probably Alexa - being able to turn on the coffee machine, TV, white noise (in the nursery), all by a voice command is so very handy!

my kindle , it's going on 5 years old and it would be the first thing i would rescue in a fire or emergency . I have over 200 books on it and use it 3-4 hours a day 7 days a week . would be lost without it.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

My Kindle (Paperwhite); brilliant.

The other thing is my old iPod 5.5G with video - purchased 9 years ago and still going as well as when it was new. Often in use, too. Apple "stuff" may be expensive, but my word, it usually lasts well. I'm well impressed with the iPod's lifespan.

Easy first one - my iPad Air - use it for hours every day - do 'everything' on it. I'm a bit of a gadgeteer too but it's my only Apple device and I love it. Browsing, email, games, all my radio listening, streaming movies, control streaming music from Pandora to our Sonos system, reading newspaper - I'm glued to this incredible device.

I'm in my 60s - born well before most current tech (eg not even TV in NZ when I was a little kid). Back then if someone had told me that as a older guy I would be able to do all this 'everything' stuff on a thin slab of metal and glass, I would have though they were insane.

My second choice has to be Pandora + Sonos (with iPad or Android phone). These have revolutionised the music part of my life - truly fantastic. Have used almost nil stored music in the last couple of years. Maybe Spotify but prefer Pandora.

Then there's using Soundhound &/or Shazam live (on iPad) to check up on details, musicians, lyrics etc of unfamiliar music thrown up by Pandora - amazing.

Also Fallout 4 on PS4 - brilliant. Earlier, GTA V - equally brilliant.

Where do I stop ......

It's a weird one but every time i use it i'm amazed at how a simple idea is so handy. i'm talking about the magnetic power connector on the MacBooks. Thats the brilliance i use to love about Apple.

rMBP laptop. 2013, 8GB, 512SSD. Great screen, quick startup in seconds, pleasure to use. It runs the same as when I got it new. It supports iMessage, SMS and calls. I only got it for integration, and thats a big part of it. Its like I have one Apple device, spread over 3 devices. Pretty cool despite what people say about Apple.

Strangely enough, my favourite would be my little Acer notebook except for an annoying problem with the trackpad freezing. However, that hasn't happened since I upgraded to Anniversary so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I imported this notebook after carefully researching my requirements and it fits my needs for this specific device perfectly.

My other favourite would have to be my first IBM PC clone, state of the art at the time. After my Kaypro CPM machine it was like getting the keys to the Promised Land.
