Does anyone know if anywhere in Auckland sells the weekly UK comic the Beano?
I've tried Whitcoulls, etc, but haven't found it.

Have you tried calling some comic book stores to see if they can get it in?
They offer it on Beano website with international shipping if you can't find it locally.

Try a specialist Magazine store like Mag Nation
it's also available in digital form if you only want to read it and not collect it.
Common sense is not as common as you think.

I've seen a version of it in our local Four Square but I do not think it is the UK version as it would be an odd place to find an import like that!

Thanks for your responses, everyone! I'm just looking for a one-off copy rather than a subscription, so it looks like I'll try to get a digital copy. No luck with Mag Nation, unfortunately.

I could have sworn that I've seen it being sold in NZ before! Out of interest, which Four Square was this?
How sad. When I was a kid in the 60's, Beano (along with a raft-load of other UK comics) was available from just about every bookshop and stationers.

P&K in Martinborough. I will have a look next time I pop down to the village.

I loved the Beano, Dandy! Great memories. I think there was Beezer and Topper too. My parents had a subscription for the Beano and Dandy for me from the local newsagent - in deepest darkest Malaysia in the 60s. I keep on forgetting to look for them when I've been visiting the UK. Must put it on the list of things to do next time. I'll have to look it up online like someone suggested.
There's also the second-hand market...
My son (nearly nine) is a big Beano fan, which started after he bought an almanac at a s/h book sale; according to a s/h dealer I was speaking to, these are fairly hard to find in NZ - very few for sale on TM (and all those that were were shipping from the UK).
I found a big pile of Beanos and other similar comics for sale at Windmill, which is the s/h book shop in Sanson (near Bulls); most of the newer ones (mid 1990s if I remember correctly) are in good condition.
As a kid I used to get the annual every year during the 80s from my Grandmother, loved it ;-) Looks like the annual is pretty easy to get here, but I guess not the weeklys.

The annuals were great. I always got one for xmas Something I really looked forward to.
Magascene in Takapuna used to stock it, I have no idea if they still do.

Well, as I mentioned above I've found it the opposite - not one second-hand shop I've tried has had an annual for sale, whereas the shop in Sanson I mentioned above had a huge stack of the weeklies.
There are annuals are available on TM, but currently (as per other times I've looked) all are from the UK:
