Tis the season for work do's. Its always interesting to hear what others are planning, particularly for those of us who are tasked with coming up with the bright ideas to entertain the IT crowd on their annual trip out of the basement.

So - whats being planned for your IT / technical departments Yuletide celebrations?

(Paintball is out for a start - too much repressed anger...)

I am my IT department.

Haven't even put decorations up in the house for about 5 years, so as to my departmental Xmas outing...probably not likely to happen. Maybe I will have an extra biscuit with my tea or something!

It's what my boss shouts us to every Xmas.    Said no IT person ever.

An afternoon with no end user phone calls, no cryptolocker and no passwords to reset, with BBQ'd (nicely) meat sounds good to me.

Depends if it's staff only, or does it include spouses and family ?

Personally, I don't attend staff only Xmases events - I have to deal with my dodgy co-shirkers 5 days a week, and I don't really want to see them after hours if I can avoid it.

However, meeting those poor people who make my co-shirkers who they are, I think is more interesting.

We're doing a party bus trip to a vineyard/restaurant somewhere north.

I suspect most will get so blathered on the bus trip, all they'll want to do at the restaurant is have a pee then get on the bus to go home again...
