Hi

Hoping someone can help.

We bought a mobile phone from Leading Edge 2 weeks ago.  The number 6 key is not working anymore.  We took it back and their response is that we have to pay a bond in the case the problem comes back saying we have dropped it which has caused the problem costing us $50 to fix.  The phone is in excellent condition

What our our rights to a faulty product?

Thanks for any advice anyone can give

Cheers

It's my understanding that the Consumer Guarantees Act would forbid them from insisting on any form of payment from you until it has been established that the phone is either faulty or damaged through misuse.

I suggest that you stand your ground on this one.
