Himself remarked last night that the ASB digital money box looks a lot like a Doctor Who fat baby.

 

I thought he was being rude for a moment, but then I saw it and he maybe right.

I would say that general figure or body shape is commonly used. 

 

Reminds me of the Vodafone Zoo Zoo's.

Oh the Adipose... what a throw-away episode that one was.

 

I guess they're similar, in that they have eyes and arms and legs and stuff. May as well say they've ripped off Lego by having little beady black eyes and yellow skin too.

ASB has had Kashin money boxes for years. This is just another update to the design, and I don't think short, squat, cute characters that wave are particularly unique to Dr Who.

This business in Christchurch has been ripping off Doctor Who for years. I doubt they got permission from the BBC to use all of their intellectual property so blatantly.
