Hi.

I have a 40KG item (UPS) which I need to get from Wellington to Auckland, ideally this week.

Our regular courier company (Fastway) won't take anything over 25kg for pickup.

Any ideas?

Not a recommendation (haven't used them), but they do exactly what you want.

Used these guys for a heavy/large server last year AKL->CHC. Cant remember costs but they took care of everything.

Anything over 25kg is freight, not courier. Look at mainfreight or mainstream or similar companies, they will come out with a truck with a tail lift normally.

Fliway moved a couple of populated racks for us through their "special projects team". They admitted when they weren't moving TV transmitter parts, that gaming machines were their bread and butter line of work.

Mainfreight have been reliable for me in the past, including items from 25KG bulky sub up to and above 300KG, prices were reasonable as well.

Movers/office relocation companies are another option. If they've got a truck heading from Auckland to Wellington with some space you can get your stuff added in pretty cheap. Not always the most timely though if you need it this week.

I haven't used them for a while but in the past when I've sold bulky heavy items on trademe I've used PBT Transport http://www.pbt.co.nz where NZ Post/Couriers couldn't take it

Residential relocation company will do it. Moved a large item for us for very reasonable rates. You will have to be quick though if you want it done this week I'd suspect.

Cheers

PBT were our go to for heavy stuff because they still allowed cash accounts, the rest required trade/credit accounts.

We use Walker Logistics for a few large consignments at work, never been a simpler process. Mainfreight I could never ever recommend to anyone. They're completely incompetent it's a miracle they're still in business.

If the above isn't an option I'd go with toll who are quite reasonably priced and quick as they use a rail over trucks from what I've been told.
