We are renting a family home which is quite new, (less than 5 years old) and the power outlet int he bathroom is just a standard single port faceplate.

My question is, do I need to buy an RCD adapter to plug in there or are newer sockets rcd'd back at the main switch somehow? I thought it was strange for it not to be a built in faceplate with the test and reset button on it.

thanks in advance

Flamer.

RCD's are no longer required in wet areas as they are fitted to the board itself and cover all circuits.

If you look at the switchboard you should see at least a couple fitted and these will be balanaced across the MCB's.

Sometimes I find that they are put at weird differant places, we had our bathroom re done a few years ago, and the test and reset button for it was wired in throught the garage which is nearby.
