Today I was looking at my current ASO VPS hosting plan costs, ASO pointed out that if I pay annually opposed to monthly I can save an addition 16.66%, then there are offshore service margins on top of that which would not be worth stressing over.
I have been paying monthly, the annual cost is probably affordable however the age old question is which do I benefit most from.
The idea of a discount is certainly inviting, however my thoughts are when you’re on a month-to-month basis with a service provider, in some cases it places the obligation on the service provider to earn your business every day, not just once a year. On the flip side I have been with this hosting company for 4 years the service, support and uptime has been very good over the years so it tips the scales back to the center so to speak.
The other thought was why have your money sitting in someone elses bank account when you could be earning interest on it yourself but then what interest I earn would probably not match the discount on offer.
Lastly there is always the predicament where your hosting provider no longer gives you the love you have been used to and you decide its time to part company but they have your money up front, from what reviews I have read ASO have been pretty good with honoring their refund policy so probably not too much to worry about here.
So will it be 30.00 USD monthly or take the discount at 360.00 USD annually and run, would be interested in any feedback.
