I am heading over the Japan and have been reading that the majority of electrical sockets over there are 2 pins (no earth) and obtaining a 3 pin AU/NZ to 2 pin Japanese adaptor can be challenging.

How I have been handling the majority of my charging requirements in recent years - New Zealand 4 way power board (3 pin plug) into an adaptor which then plugs into the local wall socket.

Does anyone have recommendations on what adaptor to purchase, or other tips on getting power from a Au/NZ 3 pin plug to a Japanese 2 pin wall outlet?

Yes most hotel outlets are 2 pin.

You'll have no problem finding adaptors over there for a dime a dozen.

Pop into any 7-Eleven, BIC Camera, Yodobashi Camera or 100 Yen store.

I picked up one of these things over there: http://www.hotref.com/Universal-Travel-Adapter-p-24491.html

(Assuming you're only plugging in a 100VAC compatible double insulated power supply for a laptop or phone etc; anything else could pose a hazard).
