Hi just me being me and went to mitre 10 and I had a choice of "sodium hydroxide >60%" for twice the price of "sodium hydroxide 980g/kg".
Now is sodium hydroxide 980g/kg the same as 98%?
Thanks

I'd hazard a guess and say that by weight, yes it is
that's what I bought, and at half the price it can't be too bad? darn dumb 70s lack of planning of anything inc plumbing i mean drainage
The other stuff may have had other ingredients (they often put aluminium filings in which make gas which is supposed to blow crap out of the pipes or some such)
If the blockage is nearish to the sink, I find a drain snake works well, followed up by some caustic soda once you've punched through and loosened the gunk
My recent ebay order arrived today... You should look into it.
:D
I got a good look at the dead lizard in the wall too.
i bought a 10m one :)
But no this is the stormwater drain ... for some reason all my kitchen and bathroom (excluding toilet - well who knows about the toilet!) drains into stormwater ... yup 70s house.
Damn :(
edit: just bought a better one... really want to see this dead wall lizard better...

That needs to be sorted.
More common bad thing is that stormwater drains in to sewers, which overloads municipal sewage treatment when it rains, the treatment system can't handle it - so a lot of untreated poo ends up on beaches etc.
Council here (Chch) does occasional inspections on this. People do dumb things like put downpipes from the roof into waste traps for sinks etc - because that's the closest convenient looking place they think it should go.
