How do you feel about them? Just had the TV on earlier and that loud, smooth-talking man's voice whom they seem to use for a good 95% of infomercials was plugging yet another product.

What was the product? I dunno, I switched off as soon as I heard his voice. I can't stand it.

I have never purchased anything from a TV 0800 infomercial, even if the product looks like it might be ok. I just don't like that kind of in your face advertising.

What are your thoughts? laughing

They need to at least tell you the price of the products.

And $19.95 + plus another $19.95 (x2 for return postage if you don't keep it) isn't a Risk Free Trial. If it's crap and you return it, you are out of pocket $60.

I bought a roomba off one before they were available here easily (about 3 years ago).  I rung them up to find out the price (because they dont tell you), it was nearly double what I would pay if I bought from amazon and shipped it.  I told them that, and they basically matched the price (local warranty + power plug sold me).

about 6 months into having it, it broke.  Rung them up to get a replacement, the lady said if I paid all my outstanding bills now (it was a monthly payment scheme cos thats how they work), I could save another $300.  So yeah, paid around $400-500 for it in the end, vs $800ish.

so I think they have their use, if you don't want to watch, then change channels, or better yet, flick on netflix like the rest of the world (new house doesnt even have a working TV aerial, cos why would you need one???)

If you do go to send it back under the trial they will try to negotiate the price down with you to the point you keep it.

I have never researched them but I have always suspected they are overpriced and underquality. I have an aversion to commercials anyway so go out of my way to avoid them. I particularly detest the shouty American hard sell approach. I have never bought anything from them and would never contemplate it. I never buy from ads. If I decide I want something, I research it first, then make a decision. I buy on-line or from shops.

I have never understood why anyone would willingly watch infomercials (or televangelists).

Their sole function is to sell you something that you don't need - at an inflated price -  taking money that you probably don't have.  undecided

Avoid.

I once built a website for a company that were running infomercials at 3am. I questioned their logic (first of using infomercials as their primary method of advertising, and then at running them at 3am) but they assured me that they'd done it with other products and it worked well. I said that anything advertised on TV sold well, didn't matter how or when it was advertised.

i always thought the postage and handling was where all the money was made, they didnt care if you returned it as they had already made a profit.

Common sense is not as common as you think.
