Trying to find someone that is good and charges the going rate for work on my P/C in West/Central Auckland.....any recomendations?

I have just had a very bad experience with someone that repaired my laptop, when I rang to query what he had done (I was quite calm as I do not know enough about the system and just wanted his advice) and I tried to explain this (I might not have been very clear) he got very angry, abused me and hung up.  Even if I was completely in the wrong - all that was needed was a reasonable explanation not the abuse I received.

Consequently I still need the PC looked at and am already down $168.00 so am trying to find a recomended repairer.

In my view you should simply take it to an agent of the manufacturer, its not a good idea to get some random pc repair guy to try and fix it, though that really depends on what the problem is and the ability of the random repair guy.

random repair guy for

HD failure
DVD drive  failure
keyboard some keys not working
software related issues

Otherwise you should really take it to the manufactures agent.

Hi Louise,

What brand / model of laptop do you have? I can help assess whether this is a job I can sort for you, or whether it is best to send to a repair agent.

Post, or send me a PM if you would like some further info.

Thanks
Fraser

I Recommend DSE Powersquad team in Auckland. They cannot physically change LCD screens on laptops but can replace RAM, HDD, other minor hardware such as Dial up Modem, Sound Card etc and troubleshoot any software problem. Though DSE does not do callouts/instore jobs for Businesses.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Hey guys

Thanks so much for the replies.

I have managed to sort out the problem, it was something I was able to do myself after all.

I did suspect that was the case I just didn't want to make a bad situation worse.  I think the mobile person is a great idea, and really appreciate the referals.

I would NEVER use this guy again - his total rudeness and the way he treated me was something I have never encountered in my life before, and I've been around a while.  I have a belief in Karma so he will get his one day.

Thanks again, you have all been great.

Out of interest, what was the problem, and what did you do to solve it?

Sing out anytime for help though, that's what the Geekzone community is all about.
