I noticed that the IRD has updated their GST website, and I am not finding it good, and feels older an more clunky than the previous system.  I can't find anywhere where it actually sates the payment due date for a GST return. On the old system, it would tell you when your payment was due on the form you printed out at the end, but the new form doesn't show this. Also on the old forms they used to send out, it also showed you the payment due date. Under the new system it appears they want you to direct debit your account as soon as you submit the form. I am guessing it is to reduce the number of people delaying payment until the due date, meaning they have money sooner. Anyone know where the payment due date is?

The other thing I have noticed is that I haven'tbeen receiving notification emails , even though the system is set to receive them I have emailed their support, but it says it will take 15 days before I will get a reply.

I agree it is backward step.
Due dates can be found on ird site
http://www.ird.govt.nz/calendars-dates/importantdates-index.html

Next gst is due 7th May. They give you extra time with those one because everyone is busy with end of year accounts.

Thanks, I had been looking for that calendar but couldn't find it, although is it not the easiest to understand with linking it up to the right GST period. The extra period explains why the April return didn't show on the calendar in April. I just can't really understand why they have removed the due date from the actual GST return. I am tempted to go back to filling it out on paper, as that was easier.

I found the due date by clicking on the GST period that I had just filed. (It certainly wasn't easy to find.)

I find it when the accountants email me and say "You need to pay $X GST by Y date."!

New GST site has plenty of issues. But just on the direct debit option, I believe the date the money is taken from your account is the payment due date not the date you set it up.

I was trying to find out whether that was the case or not, but couldn't find any information except at http://www.ird.govt.nz/how-to/making-payments/electronic-payments/electronic-payments.html where it doesn't mention the debit date. It doesn't even say that on the direct debit page that you fill in.  It would be fine if it did deibt on the due date, however it is a bit of a risk doing it, if they are just going to deduct it straight after the return is submitted.

I was just looking at the direct debit form, and you have to specify a 'payment date', and it automatically selects todays date as the payment date. So it doesn't tell you what the date is that you should make your payment by. So it doesn't appear to deduct money on the due date.

I have been through all of the forms, and also clicked on my return, but couldn't find the payment due date.  also did the print form, and that printout also doesn't tell you, which it used to do. I can see other dates, such as the date submitted, created, the end date of the period but not the essential payment due date. It makes me wonder why it isn't shown, or if it is a technical problem. The site is also freezing on me with a loading message, so I do think it has some technical problems.

When do they pay out GST refunds? Been a few weeks since putting mine in.

I checked and here's where it is for me:

Select 'My GST'...
Click 'GST' link on the Accounts tab
Click '31-Mar-2017' link
Click 'GST return' link (an extra step I forgot)
Right hand column has a list of dates - bottom date is "Due : 07-May-2017"

...Hope that works for you!

Thanks, that is where I was looking, however it does now show the due date. I think there must be a delay in it appearing, as I submitted it in the weekend.
