Does anyone remember a company in the 80/90s that used to rent computer by mail order in New Zealand? I used to rent ZX Spectrum and early PC games freon there all the time. There would be nothing more exciting than seeing a package in the letterbox knowing it was a new game to play. Hmm...I think this might be where my online shopping addiction originated...

Anyway does anyone remember the name of this place? I'd like to do some research for any articles on this place for reminiscent purposes.

Yep used to hire games for the BBC model B from there some even on cassette.

It is stretching the memory somewhat but wasn't it 'The New Zealand Computer Games Club'

They used to send out a newsletter/games list on double sided A4 - I had a few of them lying around for years but I think they long since been tossed away.

Good times Combat Lynx used to take about an hour to load - you had to flip over the cassette when you got to 30 minutes and rewind when there were read errors

There was one in Kaiapoi I think it was. Use to hire cassette tape games for TRS-80.
Mostly got by mail order, but went out there for a look one day.

Like nitrotech TV I used to rent tapes for my Acorn Electron pre 1987

I think it was in Nelson for some reason.
?advertised in the classified at the back of Listener magazine

Nelson based.... I remember getting games in 5.25in disk format late 80's.

Once when on holiday, I made my parents take me to the store.

What is interesting is that you can get copies of those old tape games as music files via various retro computer websites, to play through an mp3 player.
