Bizarro question. Say if I buy from a local online retailer, and they don't respond within a week to acknowledge receipt of payment or dispatch of goods (not during a holiday period). So I then buy from someone else, and 10 days after purchase when they do make contact I demand a refund for being slow as F, which sounds fair to me lol.

The Consumer Guarantees Act does say goods must be delivered within a reasonable time even if no time is agreed, and that a refund can be requested. But I can't find info on what 'reasonable time' is defined as. The thing is not communicating is dodgy, and creates the reasonable impression that the delay might be unacceptably long... or infinite lol. Does anyone have more specific info on his type of thing?

Reasonable time is subjective. eg they maybe either making the product, or ordering it in from overseas etc.Sometimes online orders can take months to arrive, especially if they are drop shipping.

I would be requesting a refund on about day 2 of no contact.

Many local businesses seem to treat online sales and enquiries as second-class, so if it starts off that bad you would be screwed if something goes wrong.
