I saw a new Samsung ad on TV this morning that I thought was really good. An ostrich manages to accidentally get a VR set stuck on it's head and sees what it would be like to fly. Then through determination it learns to actually fly. All to the tune of Rocket Man.

What ads does everybody really like, and what ones do you hate?

Any of the cheap, nasty budget ones where the owner of the business gurning and shouting at you is erroneously considered appealing rather than off-putting. You know TV advertising is far too cheap when furniture shops in Kaiapoi can afford it.

As above, I don't see many ads but I can't stand most of the local ones I do. Kiwi businesses seem to think they either have to scream at you or portray you as a moron. That Samsung ad was good and I enjoyed it. Would be happy to watch it again, more than once. The old Toyota 'bugger' ads were also amusing, so even here it can be done. But I guess it is easier to just scream at people and treat them like morons.

One of the local ones doesn't run at the right frame rate, causing it to "jump" once every second. It's really off-putting! Meanwhile if I hear the "Little Orchard Preschool, have fun today" jingle once more then I think I'm going to scream.

Morons with money are the advertisers' favourite target demographic.

Remember this ad? I recall asking dad for a LED HD TV when it came out, His response was: It looks good enough on the TV we got. Why you complaining?

Yeah, a long time since I watched broadcast TV, but I do catch a few during the One News live stream... enjoyed the Hyundai(?) ad with the kid singing in the back seat -- I sat there thinking 'WTF?' until the end, then managed a laugh. I guess it's a family thing...

I'd wager the budget for the Samsung ad was probably more than what most local businesses are worth.

Users can't post scripts or embed things so they must use the bbcode. There's a post on Geekzone sub-forum explaining bit by bit how to do it.

I pretty much detest all ads. Which (apart from general lack of content) is why I watch very little broadcast TV, and record that which I do watch so that I can skip through the ads. Too many ad-saturated channels is also why I will probably cancel Sky as soon as the next season of Game of Thrones has aired. It's also why I annoy my family by changing stations on the car radio so frequently.

Ads I particularly hate...... usually those involving large annoying people shouting at me, or where they think my resolve will weaken and I will buy if they keep playing the same ad or promo over, and over, and over, and over again. Or auto-playing video ads on web pages that occasionally sneak through my multi-layered defenses.

Ads I like ..... I can't think of a single one.
