I'm just finishing off a refurbishment of my house.

I've replaced many of the light switches and power outlets. They are all in perfect working order if a little ugly.

I also have a couple of doorknob/lock sets with multiple keys.

Does anyone know of a charity who might want them? Maybe someone building houses in Pacific Islands?

A web search tells me that Habitat for Humanity would be a candidate overseas but in NZ it seems that they just want donations to sell in their shop, not donations to build houses with.

Edit: I'm in Canterbury, if it matters

Honestly - I kind of doubt it.

Older electrical fittings probably don't meet current safety regs, new fittings are much cheaper wholesale than "retail" price charged by some, but OTOH there may be someone locally who may want them, perhaps sell on TM and make a donation to charity with the proceeds.

Couldn't find anything. Gone to landfill.

Even the little shop at the council recycling center didn't want them

Never seen the point of neighborly, but I have given things away on facebook to the local page and also in the past on free cycle.

Not a member of facebook, so I can't say how well that works for giveaways. Neighbourly has more of a local focus I guess. I've found it useful for getting rid of stuff I don't want.

I havent found much of a market out there for this type of stuff - I sold dozens of old light switches for $1

its a bit of a shame since I am clearing out an electrician's estate. Any body want 100 HRC fuses?

Not sure if its true or not, but a sparky at a prior workplace told me that HRC ones are moisture sensitive if they have been stored somewhere damp they become less capable of containing the arc when they blow. Not really a problem for a roadside pillar unless they try to bill you for it I guess.
