I've got a package en route from the USA, sent via UPS Expedited Global.

Presently it is in Auckland - where it has been since Friday at 0509. Nothing has happened to it in 2 days apparently.

I noticed this entry when it passed through Honolulu en route to Australia and then here. Does anyone know what it means?

Ahhh... UPS as in United Parcel Service not Uninterruptible Power Supply... and for that reason... I'm out...

However I can offer some info on your question. With some tracking systems, once they arrive in New Zealand the journey is completed by a third party and the next time you hear anything is when the parcel is delivered.

This happened to me before and I asked the courier company. The explanation that was given is they do bulk custom clearance because it is a container load. I sort of can understand because it was the economy option. Yours seems to be the express option which should be cleared asap. However you never know how the logistics actually work. Since then I have refused to pay more for express as the arrival time does not seem to be different.

It was the only shipping option to NZ the company offered.
I could have used You Post but that adds delays and I can never really decide if it will be cheaper.

Does the customs clearance in Honolulu mean that it is already cleared for NZ and therefore won't be delayed at Auckland for that?

No, it means it is cleared to leave the US.
