I particularly enjoyed the Mote in Gods Eye books cowritten with Larry Niven.
Hmmm, I buy the Years Best SF by Gardner Dozois every year, and there is an obituary list in it.
Loads of them.....
Not my favourite books, but yeah, I see some names and think OMG they were that old?!
