I know its a bit odd bringing up a show that ended 18 years ago but i'm whittling my way though the Star Trek series on NetFlix and i'm 15 eps through season 1 of DS9, but at this point i'm getting mad with the glaringly bad plot holes, illogical reasoning or little to no reasoning for the actions being taken.

Now I know that with Star Trek the first season is generally always the worst but right now I would prefer to re-watch the worst eps of the first season of TNG or TOS.

So my question is where does this actually get good am I close or should I just skip to where it does get good after all you don't get 7 seasons and regarded as critically acclaimed if people hate the show so it has to get good at some point but when does this actually happen.

It's ages since I last saw it, probably when it was first out, and all I can recall is drooling over the woman who looks like a giraffe. It had plot lines?

Stick with it, it gets much better. At the time of release, Babylon 5 was also on TV and I'm not sure if that had an effect but after a couple of seasons DS9 introduced the Dominion for a persistent threat.

With all Star Trek it seems to take a few seasons to flesh out the characters and then they start to do more interesting things.

DS9 is the best star trek IMO.  but yes, it takes a little while to get good, most shows do though.  I would stick with it, once it gets good, it gets really good.

The most painful show I recall watching was Farscape, 2 sesaons of pretty much crap (I bought the DVD boxset as someone recommended it to me), that was a mission to get through, but then it also got really really good.  But first seasons were a mission to get through.

After the first few episodes of DS9 I wondered how things would get interesting if they're stuck on a space station all the time, but they managed to pull it off and get away from the space station a lot. In later seasons they have big story arcs that last for several episodes. I enjoyed DS9 and Voyager more than TNG.

Nah man, Ezri Dax was some much better :)  She was only in it for the last season though.

As with any star trek I got sick of any Klingon story.  Which is brilliant since all discovery is is stupid klingon stuff (and the bad redesign of them to look like terrible Nosferatu).....

It does get a lot better, the first season and into the second season was full of bad acting and poor story lines.(seems typical of most star treks.)

It starts to kick along in the final 6-7 episodes of season 2,  bringing in The Marquis, The backstory on Garak, The mirror Universe, and most importantly the Dominion....

Hang in there,

Ok sounds like I should continue but I think I will give it a few weeks before I do to let my anger over ep 15 subside.

Literately did no one stop and think that what was being put to paper was insane, destroying an entire what looks to be thriving eco system with birds plants and water and the only reasoning for this is to save a year to power what looks be a small % of the population. The worst part is that the federation is ok with this and pushing it along.

We have ships that can go faster than light but the federation cannot supply power to Bajor for a year / Bajor cannot convince those people who will be hit by winter to leave there homes for one winter.

The Dominion are introduced in the final episode of season 2, so that's when it starts getting good. It then goes from good to great beginning with season 4.

DS9 is largely soap-opera in space for a long time, I don't recall how far along it was but it does definitely get more interesting.
