This is my first time shopping at Avalon.co.nz.  I purchased a pair of speakers online and paid with my credit card.

I have received order confirmation right away and my credit card was charged shortly afterwards.  However when I emailed them to request the courier track number, they sent another email saying it was shipped and that I would receive the tracking info soon.  Now that was Monday and as of now I haven't heard from them yet.  I've sent them two emails requesting the courier info but no reply from them.

Should I become concerned at all or should I allow more time for them to come back to me?  Has anyone here ever dealt with Avalon Audio before?

Thanks

I'm sure they will be fine.

They are part of Computer Dynamics, who I order from a lot. I have had stuff delivered the same day from them (they are in Albany, I'm in Wairau Park).

OP - Where are you?

Huh ? Avalon aren't anything to do with CDLNZ - you getting fooled by the cdl.co.nz emails ? :)

Umm, CDLNZ bought Avalon Audio in June 2017. CDL now distribute the brands Avalon were doing.

Yep - I've used them twice online, a pair of Kef speakers and a Marantz receiver - all good - everything arrived safe and sound.

They have some pretty good prices.

Yeah I purchased an Onkyo receiver from them earlier this year, and it showed up no problem. Shipping wasn't the fastest, but I believe they use NZ Couriers or Fastways, either way one of the couriers I'm not a big fan of.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

Marantz?

Avalon haven't distributed Marantz since aaaages ago.

They were the Onkyo distributors for a long time, until the company sold distribution rights to CDL (I'm surprised that distribution rights of a few overseas brands can be sold, but there you go).

So Avalon still exists, but they're now effectively a retailer now, although the owner is working with CDL in some capacity.

Why is your amp taking a long time to arrive?

Christmas freighting times means it's difficult to get anything around NZ quickly from now until Christmas, hopefully you're just caught up in the rush.

Avalon have been around a long time. The prior director has a reasonable reputation in the industry and CDL have an even better reputation. Don't panic, things sometimes happen.

I have been to their retail store a year ago and bought stuff no issue.

This was similar to my experience. The product, when it eventually arrived, was good, the price was reasonable, the communication was very poor, and the telephone customer service was delivered in a surly and brusque manner. I would certainly think twice about shopping there again.

Thank all of you guys for sharing your experience.  The final outcome of my online purchase from Avalon.co.nz

1 The speakers were in fact despatched shortly after payment went through

2 Never ever has there been a courier track number provided

3 Never ever has anyone from avaolon.co.nz replied to any of my email and phone queries regarding the courier track number

4 The courier company, in this case Fliway, took the package to the wrong address and left a Card to Call; the street number was correct but the street was wrong!!!  they never bothered to ring the mobile contact number I left

5 Luckily the owner of that address managed to find me on Facebook (community page) and notified me of the Card to Call

The reason to keep asking for the name of the courier and the track number is in case the parcel gets displaced or delivered to wrong address.  In this very instance the seller has completely ignored all follow-up correspondence with the buyer.  This has led me to re-think whether I would ever want to buy anything else from them again, even when the prices are reasonable however customer service is zero.  It has also made me wonder what happens when there is necessity for product servicing.

Which number have you been calling? I'd recommend 094159002 which is the parent companies number, I have dealt with them a number of years, and I am sure they would be happy to take your feedback and ensure others don't have a similar experience.

It's certainly not what I'd have expected from Avalon, customer service has never been an issue in the past in my dealings with them.

Either way I think a call to CDL should get whatever is wrong sorted.

On the plus side they did dispatch the goods.
